Joel Osteen, pastor of the largest church in America, may have coined the phrase during his sermon this weekend, but I'm adopting it.
He actually called them blessing explosions, but I decided I like the term "large blessing explosions," because they're going to be large.
Make sure to catch the broadcast in a few weeks when it airs. It's fantastic preaching. It's on in something like 100 countries so wherever you are you can watch it and enjoy.
A large blessing explosion occurs when God unloads his unusual, far-and-away favor on your life. It may be something incredibly wonderful that happens just because he loves you, or it may be some good ol' vindication and recompense you've had coming for a while.
Let's look at the mighty, exciting Old Testament that I've been reading for an example.
"Instead of their shame my people will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace they will rejoice in their inheritance; and so they will inherit a double portion in their land, and everlasting joy will be theirs" (Isaiah 61:7).
I love God's word, because it never comes back void.
As you see there in scripture, God has laid up these large blessing explosions for you and me, especially when we've had to walk through a prolonged season of diarrhea.
For example, let's say you have some fellow employees who try to brand you a pedophile or kiddie porn viewer, without ever presenting any evidence to the police or anyone in authority, putting your reputation and good name in question.
Friend, you're due a large blessing explosion.
Or, let's say people employed by the state of Texas pay thugs to fire guns off outside your residence(s) for several years (or did it themselves, who knows?), sending you death threats in the mail and verbally telling you they will kill you if they have to.
Sounds like a large blessing explosion is coming your way, friend.
Maybe because some in power have dragged their feet, or outright refused to do the right thing, it has cost you years of your life waiting for the justice you should have had eons ago.
I hear a huge, nasty, unbelievable blessing explosion about to blow the lid off your life like you've never known! Remember, God's promised to make up to us the years that the enemy has stolen (Joel 2:25)...and he cannot tell a lie.
By the way, if you were unfortunate enough to have all those things I mentioned happen to you, that large blessing explosion is starting to look like the Big Bang. Do you know about the Big Bang? Just ask any scientist you know about the Big Bang Theory. It didn't really happen, but ask them about it anyway.
Such an incredible explosion of God's justice, love and blessings can literally create a whole new universe for you.
And the beautiful thing is, God's not going to let the devil take away anything that He has purposed in his heart for you.
"For I, the LORD, love justice; I hate robbery and iniquity. In my faithfulness I will reward them and make an everlasting covenant with them" (Isaiah 61:8).
See, it's real simple. God hates robbery. And God is going to make up for all the years we've had our crops and resources pillaged by maggots and criminals.
